they want a Dow 13,000 close. Total spec, but buying SPY 138 weekly (today expiry) for .18 cents. Don't try this at home.

i would buy both intel and stx in the low $20's, say $22-24. they are different animals even tho both tied to pc market.

wdc/htch deal closed last nite. terms more onerous than i would have preferred as a wdc shareholder. however, today, 2 american based companies control87% of the global hdd market. if that cant generate a benign procong environment, the industry is managed by mo-rons!

Understood--been selling puts on INTC in that range to get long at those prices. Do you own WDC mr. Marcin? If not, why not? Seems cheap and cash rich--I don't own it either, just curious. Do own STX thanks to your call.

i own both wdc and stx. much larger in stx. i think both companies can make $8-10 per share on a normalized basis if they keep hdd prices in the low to mid $60's...I know stx will return a ton of cash to share holders so it can pay a $4 dividend and get to $100. WDC can do most of the same if they ever decide to return cash to owners of the business.

i think i am the only guy on the planet who has a best case stock price target for stx as $100. even management doesnt believe as they continue to sell stock at $27.

the STX WDC spread is out into nosebleed territory for the STX WDC pair to give you big bang for your buck, plus WDC Thai floods seems priced in to me, and they've got a moutain of cash

@rhino31, Sorry you feel that way, I've purposely pushed back against developing new products. Marketwatch publishes my RevolutionInvesting, I launched TradingWithCody myself last year and then I launched WallStreetAllStars.com when some of these guys reached out to me. Not complaining about this site--content is top notch. Just thought that when I signed up you'd be part of package as well. Not going to pay another sub for what I thought I was getting with this one. Cancelled Rev Investing as well. Marketwatch people were a bunch of $#@% about it, too.

Re QE3, the Fed heads are working overtime with historic levels of creativity to justify another round of money printing. Its a gosh darned disgrace. For some reason, the Bernak thinks artificailly inflating asset prices is the solution to every problem....

That's why I don't think you can fight this market---I don't agree with the Fed, but that is their perception. Add to that the fact that the ECB still has bullets in the chamber despite LTRO. That was just the start.

I do think the FED really is clueless about the effect of all this. They see it as all upside in terms of reflating assets, which they conflate with the real economy. What they don't realize is that the inflation in the things we need to live (food, gas rents etc.) cancels out completely any and all benefit from refinancing mortgages, for example. Anyone tried to refi lately? The fees have doubled and you need almost a 1 1/2 point decrease to get to breakeven vs. your current mortgage. Yeah, the rates are great, if you have 20% down and a FICO of 800. Otherewise, those low rates are about as real as unicorns.

Bernanke seems desperate to keep asset prices up - wonder what he knows that we do not. I have been uber-bearish for most of last year but have bitten my tongue and traded the trend with frequent donations to the Gods from zeroed out put spreads and the like. Had good numbers but could have been great!

@bobbbrad: I like HAIN and own it. I prefer the growth rates of HAIN and WFM to UNFI but I would not necessarily dissuade someone from owning UNFI
