No matter how much I try to teach Trading Challenge students and PennyStocking Silver subscribers about Wall Street history, they only want to know how to make money now.
Well making money now stems from having an understanding of how Wall Street operates so it’s important to understand its past, definitely read these posts with videos just to make it easier for you:
Learn about Jesse Livermore, The World’s Greatest Trader
Learn About Bernard Baruch: A Famous Trader/Diplomat (who never went broke & didn’t commit suicide…and had a college named after him, score!)
Now go read about Otto Kahn on his Wikipedia page because it’s good for you like eating brussel sprouts:
On business “It has long been our policy and our effort to get our clients, not by chasing after them, not by praising our own wares, but by an attempt to establish a reputation. . . . We have no show window; our only attractiveness is our good name and our reputation for sound advice and integrity. . . . If we do not live up to what they [our clients] believe is our capacity, and to what they believe is the value of our sponsorship, of our trade-mark, they will quit us. And we have no means to prevent them.”
And to incentivize you to care about good ole Otto, check out the videos below I’ve posted of his magnificent castle Oheka Castle, which was used in the classic Citizen Kane and in which I get to stay in next week thanks to my attending a wedding in that neighborhood (sorry Sheraton, I prefer castles of Wall Street titans
(Yes, that is Steve Gutenberg in video #2 damnnnnnn)
When I first visit the Oheka Castle the stair case is the first place that I always stare. Really elegant especially when there’s a decoration. Beautiful garden too.
