Sh*t Starting To Get REAL! No Where to Turn for the Unemployed

I interview John about what’s happening in Ca with some of the long term unemployed. You can hear the desperation in his voice as families run out of options. I will meet with him later on and see if can create a series. www.rantrave.com The results of a USA Today/Gallup poll conducted between Dec. 21, 2010, and Jan. 9, 2011, and released last Thursday, seem to indicate that many unemployed Americans are outrageously optimistic, if not completely in denial, about the severity of the current unemployment crisis in the US “Despite today’s nearly double-digit unemployment rate, 4 in 10 unemployed Americans expect to get a job in the next four weeks and one in three underemployed have the same expectations with respect to obtaining a full-time job.” If this Gallup pole data provides us with an accurate reflection of popular opinion among the unemployed, then 40% of the 15+ million people collecting Unemployment Insurance actually believe that a job is magically being whipped up just for them. While 4 in 10, or 40%, may not seem like much at first, you must consider that for all those people to actually reach this goal then roughly 6 million jobs need to be created — by next week, or so. Of course, even if this occurred, those ’4 in 10ers’ would be disappointed to immediately find themselves in competition with the 8+ million 99ers (who are still seeking a Tier 5 Unemployment Extension) and the 15+ million underemployed, as well as the hoards of teenagers and illegal

@LifterOn It would have been WAAAAAAAy ALOTTTTT worse if McCain & Palin had won in 2008. Don’t blame this on Mr.Obama because I’d REALLY REALLY like to see what Mr.Romney and any other Republican candidate will do with the current economic situation. You think Romney can fix it? You think so? Um….nope….

Survival 101: learn how to barter. I bartered with a local restaraunt and a hotel once by offering my services for food and a place to stay. its not a comfortable lifestyle but you will survive. its better then commiting crimes.

Now that the government is considering legalizing Marijuana, soon the drug cartels are going to be facing economic hardships also. Maybe being a drug dealer isn’t going to be so good in the end for ya.

The grass is not always greener on the other side.

It get’s far, far, far worse . . . where fewer and fewer younger people going to college (paying more for less) have even less opportunities for work.

Who’s going to pay for the baby boomer’s retirement and pension plans now?

    Welcome to 3rd-World America.

@LifterOn Because the collapse didn’t happen under bush. Nor did half of the bailout . Obama was president when the mortgage laws were changed 10 years ago allowing anyone to get a $1mill loan with no proof of income, and it was Obama that put the Bush tax cuts in place that are responsible for more of the US debt than all the bailouts combined.

  • blaaket123

@LifterOn The recession started in 08. Obama Started in 08. To blame him for a past regime of bad ideas and mistake is crazy. Remember the Republicans, are for free enterprise. Thats why people are spend all this time trying to put more regulations on free entertprises.

The person on the phone and others in a situation like this need to go to the local welfare office to get food stamps, cash aid, and day care assistance. Apply for section 8 housing too. Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed about it.

  • LifterOn

You stupid Americans! This is what you get when you vote democratic. Why do you keep voting for evil people like Obama who want socialism, big government and to destroy jobs and wealth creation and the free market in favor of poverty and tyranny? You’re not going to get a free hand out so stop voting for these A-holes! You moron liberal Drones are screwing yourselves and we conservatives. That’s what you get! Damn you and your court! I live in so cal . it is almost as if I am living in different country other than us. I think majority people in us will turn into homeless unless they have a house paid off and got some reserve for rainy days. Terrible thing is that it is gonna get worse

  • Lonsoleil

    My advice?

    1. LIE ON YOUR RESUME, say you’ve worked for companies that are no longer in business.

    2. Dye your hair, try to look and dress younger at job interviews. Give the discriminatory idiots what they want to see so you can get hired and keep the roof over your head!

    3. Avoid scams by deleting your address and personal info from your online resume. State that references are readily available AFTER an interview.

Do what you gotta do. Don’t expect our government to help. They don’t care.

  • GOPkicksbutt

Congress needs to stop paying unemployment to these job dodgers and buy them one way plane tickets out of the country before we go bankrupt!
I, along with several of my republican colleagues are currently working on a plan to end unemployment permanently by attaching a provision to the next budget bill that will end unemployment for good!
